Yes, the warranties are supported by the individual suppliers of the products so they will vary from brand to brand. The warranty periods for the bathroom products are noted in the Product section of this website. If you are interested in bathroom and kitchen products that are not on this site (e.g. Caroma Dorf etc) visit your closest Swan Plumbing store and they will be able to provide you with the information you require.

It depends on whether you need it to be small in length, width or depth, but the most popular small powder room basin that we sell is the Cielo Tabula Sei basin which can be found on the this website under the Products / Basins section.
There are a number of different types of basins including undermount basins, wall hung basins, powder room basins, semi-recessed basins, vanity basins, countertop basins and vessel basins and Swan stocks all of the different types of basins available. To see what these different types look like and what the terms mean look under Products/ Basins on this website.
*Not available at every store
When it comes to basins one of the most important features is the design and this applies particularly to vessel basins. Vessel basins can add real excitement to a bathroom and they can act as a feature, particularly vessel basins such as the Vitra Piu Due range or the Sanindusa Morfys basins (both of these ranges can be viewed on this website under the Products/ Basins section). Vessel basins can also be convenient if you are replacing an existing vanity top as they simply sit on top of the counter and a lot of the time a large cut out is not required into the bench top.
This can depend largely on the tapware that is used for the basin as some taps (particularly older tapware) can have quite a hard stream of water coming out and this will cause splashing. Due to the new WELS (water efficiency labeling scheme) regulations that restrict the flow of water in order so save water this is now less of an issue than it was in the past.
There is MUCH more available to the Swan stores than what is depicted on this site. The product range on the website is but a taste of the enormous range available at Swan. If you have seen something that you like anywhere there is a very good chance that either Swan would have it or that an alternative could be found.

This depends on the basin that you are replacing and what kind of cut out you have. If you are looking to fit a larger basin than your existing basin it is quite possible that if you enlarge the existing cut out that you could keep the existing countertop although this is a question that is very dependent on the individual situation so it is best to speak to a your cabinet maker and to go to your nearest Swan store so that you can get some advice.

Bathroom vanity
Swan Plumbing stocks a wide range of vanity units in almost any colour that you would require. You can select from the laminex range of colours. You can select from real timber vanity units or from a wide selection of wood grain bathroom vanity. The most popular colour is still white as a lot of people like to ‘keep it simlple’ so Swan offers a very wide range of white vanities as well as a range of different colours in both the cabinets and the tops. If you would like a vanity with a stone top Swan Plumbing can also supply bathroom vanities with Caesarstone tops in a range of colours.
Vanity units are very popular for investment homes and low budget renovations as you can eliminate the cost of a cabinet maker and there are a lot of inexpensive bathroom vanities on the market. The polymarble vanity tops are probably the most durable type of top as they are low fuss, they don’t crack and they are easy to clean as they are usually one moulded piece.

The size of your bath or spa is the sole determinant of how much water it will use. The other issue is how much you choose to fill it up. The products that are really affected by the water restrictions laws are toilets, showers and taps so your bath should be chosen based on size but if water saving is important to you the best thing that you can do is put a limitation on the amount of water that you choose to put in the bath.
This should be quite straight forward if the basin that you have is white as the vast majority of baths available are white nowadays. If the basin that you currently have is an unusual/old fashioned colour (e.g. apricot, mist grey, light blue etc) it might be a matter of replacing the basin as well as the bath if it is important to you that they match. The other consideration will be the shape of the basin and bath as consistency is very important in interior design. If your basin is square or round the bath that you choose should have a similar curve in order to have consistency throughout the space.
The most durable bath for children would be an acrylic bath. Pressed steel baths are enamel coated and can chip if hit by a sharp object. In the past acrylic was quite inferior to pressed metal however acrylic has since been greatly improved and now the heat retention is just as good as the pressed metal. Acrylic baths can also incur damage in the form of scratching, but as they are the same colour all the way through this is not nearly as noticeable. However, if you take care of the pressed steel bath according to the manufacturers instructions it would last a very long time and they are still equally as popular as acrylic baths though perhaps not as suitable for young children.
Yes, though not all baths are suitable for a bath screen. The bath screen is designed to sit on the long side of a rectangular bath (i.e. a traditional designed bath) so they will not work on oval or round baths and they must also go onto a bath that will work with the seal at the bottom so the bathroom floor does not get water all over it. Visit your nearest Swan store to find out what is most suitable for your application.
Yes, there are bath repair kits although if your bath is old it might be better to simply replace it as the repair kits do not guarantee perfect results.

There are now ‘soft close’ seats available that eliminate the problems related to slamming toilets altogether. It is not just the noise that the slamming creates but also the damage that can be an issue. Soft close seats simply require the top of the toilet seat to be tapped so that the seat slowly closes. It’s not only good for kids but it might even mean that the husband occasionally closes the lid! An invention intended not only to save your sanity but also your marriage!! Visit your Swan Plumbing store to find out which toilet suites are available with this feature.

Yes, the amount of water that toilets use can vary from toilet suite to toilet suite. The most water saving unit that is currently on the market is by Caroma and it has the basin located on top of the cistern so that the water that you wash your hands with is actually the clean water out of the cistern! It is a very clever design though not to everyone’s tastes so if you prefer a more conventional toilet suite you will find that the Austalian standards dictate that you must have a dual flush with at least 6 litres and 3 litres as the full and half flushes. There is also the possibility of having a suite with a 4.5 litre flush as the full flush option. Visit your Swan Plumbing store to find out which toilet suites are available and what will work for you.
There are a few different features that can make a toilet suite easier to clean. The main feature is whether the pan goes all the way back to the wall. If the pan is flush with the wall this means that you don’t have to get down on your knees to clean behind the toilet pan which can be very unpleasant! Another feature that can make a toilet easier to clean is whether it has smooth sides or not as ‘ledges’ can act as dust collectors and inevitably need to be cleaned. Some brands have additional features like the ‘ceramicplus’ option which is available on some Villeroy & Boch toilet suites. This is a Teflon like product that repels marks on the inside of the toilet bowl. A box rim is also a great feature which is a feature whereby water is evenly distributed around the rim of bowl when you flush which minimizes the formation of water staining and ensures a deeper clean of the walls of the bowl.
You have two options: either you can choose a small conventional toilet suite or you can choose a toilet that has the cistern in the wall which will provide more space in the room. The smallest option is a toilet with an inwall cistern as this essentially means that the space that the cistern would normally take up is eliminated. Inwall cisterns are not an option for everyone, however, so you can choose one of a number of toilet suites that will fit into a small space from the Swan Plumbing range. The best thing to do is to measure the maximum space available as well as to check whether an inwall cistern is an option and if it is you will need to find out how much space in the wall you have available as not all inwall cisterns will fit into all houses. Armed with this information visit your Swan Plumbing store to find out which toilet suites are available and what will work for you.
This is something that a lot of people worry about with inwall cisterns but they are surprisingly easy to service. On 95% of domestic cisterns they are simply accessed by taking the flush button off the wall. As with any plumbing problem it is advisable to get a plumber to look at any problems rather than trying to service it yourself, but you can rest assured that inwall cisterns are easy to access and service and the tiles on your wall will not need to be ripped off to access the cistern!
Many people feel that external/conventional cisterns are better, but that is probably more a fear of the unknown or of something different than anything else. Whether you choose an external or an inwall cistern is dependent on your own individual requirements and preferences and both a perfectly functional so you can rest assured that both options are as good as each other.

Visit your Swan Plumbing store to find out which toilet suites are available and what will work for you. Your plumber or builder may have made the recommendation based on the fact that you have a particular plumbing configuration and they know that the toilet that they have recommended will fit. More likely than not Swan Plumbing will be able to provide you with something that will look right and have the right plumbing configuration. It often happens that plumbers and builders will recommend products that they know will work but that the retail client does not like the look of and the sales consultants are Swan Plumbing are accustomed to resolving this issue so that everybody is happy.
One of the most important requirements with shower bases is the size as they need to fit the configuration of your bathroom. Check out the bathroom planner to work out the suitable shower base size. There are a few different materials available in shower bases including acrylic and polymarble. In different states of Australia there are different materials that are predominantly used. Visit your nearest Swan store to find out what is most suitable for your application and what there differences are between the different materials.
This depends on size but also compatibility. If you know the brand of the shower base that will certainly make the selection of the screen easier as with shower bases and shower screens some brands will be able to fit together whilst others will not. It is also important to take note of where the door is located and whether the base has a “lip” around any of the edges. Visit your nearest Swan store to find out what is most suitable for your application.

Yes, Swan Plumbing can supply you with a shower screen that is suitable for a base that is to be tiled. However, not all shower screens are suitable for tiled bases so please get advice from a Swan sales consultant so that you choose a suitable screen.
Yes, Swan Plumbing has screens that are suitable for those who have their shower head over the bath. Bath screens are a great idea compared to curtains over baths as they have a seal at the bottom so that water doesn’t end up all over the floor, they don’t attract mould and they can be folded against the wall so that if you want to use the bath to actually bathe in it is a much more pleasant experience.

Bathroom Taps & Tapware
Mixer taps have become much more popular in recent years due to both their design and function. Mixer taps use a ceramic disc cartridge to mix and control the flow of water, as opposed to conventional tapware which uses a jumper valve system. Conventional tapware can also have the ceramic disc although it is not always a standard inclusion so whether you choose mixers or taps is up to your preference.
Since 1st January 2007 it is a legal requirement for all taps sold in Australia to be registered WELS (water efficiency labeling scheme) product. This means that all sink and basin taps and all shower roses and handshowers, must have a water rating. The higher the star rating, the more efficient the particular tap is.
Tapware that we recommend is Resort tapware and Vitra tapware. If you prefer conventional taps in your kitchen or laundry we recommend Resort and if you prefer mixer taps we recommend Vitra. We also have a wide range of tapware including Caroma Dorf, Zucchetti, Grohe, Hansa, Newform, Brewers, Amox, Gessi and much, much more.

There are many solutions to fix your leaking tap from within the tap itself. Dripping tap can be elimiated by installing a ceramic disk which you can purchase from Swan Plumbing. Your taps may also be worn out and replacement taps would be recommended.

Yes, there is tapware available in a range of colours including Chrome, Chrome/White, Chrome/Ivory, Chrome/Gold, Gold, Gold/White and Gold/Ivory. The most popular tap colour by far is simple chrome (about 95%) so whilst there is a range if you are looking to match existing tapware it is best to choose Chrome if you are starting a new bathroom as it will enable you to have the widest range of choices.
No. The only reason to choose the same brand would be from a design aspect it can create a feeling of consistency. From a plumbing perspective the shower and taps do not need to be from the same brand so if you wanted to change your shower head to a water saver, for example, but didn’t want to change your existing taps any shower should be fine.
Given that all taps (except bath tapware) now have the WELS rating all tapware must comply and so most taps are "water savers". You can review the ratings for all approved tapware on www.waterrating.gov.au.

Yes, there are limitations. The standard pressure in Australian homes is about 500kpa, however some homes have water pressure as high as 1000kpa and this will depend on the area in which you live. Speak to your plumber to find out if your area could have high water pressure and visit your nearest Swan store to speak to one of the salespeople about what your best options would be.

Laundry
Swan Plumbing stocks laundry taps, troughs, laundry cabinets, washing machines and dryers.
This depends on the trough that you are replacing and what kind of cut out you have. If you are looking to fit a larger sink/trough than your existing sink/trough it is quite possible that if you enlarge the existing cut out that you could keep the existing countertop although this is a question that is very dependent on the individual situation so it is best to speak to your cabinet maker and to go to your nearest Swan store so that you can get some advice. Laundry cabinets are often a simple solution to this problem as the trough is already in the cabinet and the unit it ready to go.
There are many different sizes and shapes available for laundry troughs. The standard is a 45 litre rectangular trough, but if you require a larger trough (for example, some people use it to wash small dogs and, therefore, require a larger size trough) there are options available or if your trough is in a visible area and you would like it to be more ‘designer’ there are options available that look better.
Hot water system
Producing hot water for the home has the largest impact on your energy bill in most Australian homes. Using solar energy to heat your water can substantially reduce energy bills, even in colder climates, and will reduce the emission of Greenhouse Gases.
In most States replacing an electric water heater with a gas boosted solar water heater can reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions by approximately 3.7 tonnes per year, equivalent to taking a small car off the road.
In some cases you could use your current hot water system as a post heater to a Solar System. A solar system needs a storage tank to collect the energy gained from the collectors, and an existing storage tank is not always suitable as it could heat when the storage tank should be gaining solar energy.
For confirmation on system compatibility you should discuss with your plumber or contact Rinnai on 1300 555 545.
Yes Swan plumbing sells all leading manufacturers Hot water systems.
A Continuous flow hot water system will only use gas when the tap is turned on, therefore providing savings on your energy bill. Couple that with a Solar system and you will have the most efficient form of water heating.
